Hvor det tidligere har været tilladt at fange og hjemtage 1 finneklippet laks på fx trolling i den sydlige Østersø – blandt andet i dansk farvand, foreslog EU-kommissionen i går et totalt forbud med alt laksefiskeri syd for Åland i 2025. Argumentet er, at man for at fange og hjemtage sin finneklippede laks – rent statistisk kommer til at fange og genudsætte en – afhængig af området – varierende mængde af vildlaks. Eftersom disse estimeres til at have en C & R dødelighed på 25% kan det koste livet for en til flere C & R vildlaks – blot at hjemtage én finneklippet fisk.
I forslaget hedder det blandt andet “The Commission therefore proposes adjusting the fishing opportunities and the accompanying rules accordingly, notably by banning recreational fishing for reared salmon, which unavoidably also causes the death of wild salmon.”
Forslaget kommer til endelig afstemning og evt. vedtagelse i slutningen af oktober. Fisk & Fri afventer nærmere detaljer om forslaget.

I EU´s uddybning af forslaget står følgende: ” Finally, ICES estimates that the post-release mortality of wild salmon in recreational trolling fisheries for adipose fin-clipped (i.e. reared) salmon is 25% resulting in approximately 2 000 dead wild salmon. The Commission therefore proposes, in accordance with Article 16(4) of the CFP Basic Regulation, in conjunction with Articles 2(1) and 2(5), points (c) and (f), of that Regulation, to: (i) allow targeted commercial coastal summer salmon fisheries in ICES subdivisions 29N to 31; (ii) adjust the TAC to the level advised by ICES; (iii) maintain the current remedial measures; (iv) maintain the limited inter-area flexibility to ensure the full use of coastal fishing opportunities in ICES subdivision 32; and (v) discontinue the possibility of recreational salmon fisheries except during the summer in the coastal areas in ICES subdivisions 29N to 31.”
